Which? response to parliamentary inquiry into bank IT failures

Gareth Shaw, Which? Money Expert, said:

“Bank customers have endured a spate of IT disasters this year, locking millions out of their accounts and causing huge disruption to families and businesses around the country, so this inquiry should look at why this keeps happening and explore all options to ensure banks are held to account for their failings.

“As branches close and people move to online banking, the big banks have a great deal of work to do to reassure their customers and rebuild trust in their services – that should start with their systems having the investment and oversight needed to ensure they are up to scratch, so these IT meltdowns are a thing of the past.”
