Jet2 becomes first airline to win Which? Travel Brand of the Year
As brands compete to take home a coveted Which? Award today, low-cost airline Jet2 has seen off fierce competition to become the first airline to ever win ‘Which? Travel Brand of the Year’ at the 12th annual Which? Awards.
Hosted by Naga Munchetty and Which? Group Chief Executive, Peter Vicary-Smith, the Which? Awards recognises brands that deliver exemplary products and customer service.
This year, Jet2 triumphed as ‘Which? Travel Brand of the Year’ becoming the first airline to win this accolade. Following a disastrous year for airlines, Jet2 has stood out for providing its customers with cheap tickets, good customer service and timely compensation. In the re-introduced ‘Which? Car Brand of the Year’ category, Volvo drove off competition from Hyundai, Lexus and Toyota to be crowned winner.
Richer Sounds, Nationwide Building Society and NFU Mutual continued to dominate, taking home awards for best retail, banking and insurance brands respectively. Whilst Apple held onto the ‘Which? Technology Brand of the Year’ award for a 2nd year, Korean tech giants Samsung knocked Miele off the top spot to snatch the ‘Which? Large Appliance Brand of the Year’.
In the newly introduced ‘Which? Small Home Appliance Brand of the Year’, Bosch won over the judges with their wide range of reliable appliances.
Paul Maynard MP was this year’s recipient of the Positive Change Award, which celebrates individuals who tirelessly champion consumer rights. A worthy winner, Paul Maynard was recognised for his notable achievements to improve the rail industry, such as extending the Consumer Rights Act to include travel and pushing for the Accessibility Action Plan for disabled passengers.
Peter Vicary-Smith, Which? Chief Executive said:
“Since its inception, the Which? Awards has been committed to rewarding brands who have consistently put their customers first”.
“Which? Awards are not handed out to just anyone. This year’s winners have reached exceptional standards, delivering excellent products, services and value for money”.
