Which? responds to warnings that as many as four in 10 could fall into fuel poverty in October

Natalie Hitchins, Which? Head of Home Products and Services, said:

“It’s hugely concerning that energy firms estimate that as many as four in 10 people could fall into fuel poverty in October.

“Businesses and the government must now be fully prepared to support the most financially vulnerable as the new energy price cap takes effect. If a company is hiking bills, then they must provide transparent and clear information for consumers about the increases, how they will be affected and the best deals available.

“Ofgem must also move quickly on its pledge to take tough action against energy suppliers that are charging people too much – and send a clear message that this behaviour from businesses is totally unacceptable during the cost of living crisis.”
