Buyer beware – Which? advice on shopping in the BHS closing down sale
As the last few BHS stores close this weekend, you may be tempted to bag a bargain but follow our top tips to ensure you don’t end up out of pocket if something breaks or stops working after the retailer has closed:
- If you intend to make any purchases during the closing sales it is unlikely you’ll be able to claim any refund for faulty products as they will have ceased trading, so if you’re buying something that costs more than £100, use a credit card as you’ll be able to make a claim against your credit card company if anything goes wrong.
- If you’re buying electricals, check to see if the item comes with a manufacturers warranty so that if it breaks, you can get it repaired or your money back.
- And if you still have any BHS gift vouchers, spend them as soon as possible – once the stores have closed the vouchers will be invalid.
