“More bad news for long suffering energy customers” – Which? response to the Energy Ombudsman’s Annual Report that shows complaints about energy suppliers have doubled in the last year.
Which? executive director, Richard Lloyd said:
“Rocketing complaints about suppliers to the Ombudsman is more bad news for long suffering energy customers. The large energy firms, which dominate the market, need to tackle this and put an end to poor service.
“With the Competition and Markets Authority reporting next week, we need to see remedies that will sort out this market once and for all.”
Notes to Editors
1. We have an online petition where people can pledge their support for our Fix the Big Six campaign to help us fix the broken energy market.
2. Our Fair Energy Prices campaign, which already has nearly 205,000 supporters, calls on the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), as part of its current investigation into the energy market, to:
- Investigate the best way for the regulator to establish a ‘price to beat’, so that consumers can trust that the price they pay is fair.
- Require energy suppliers to use simple, directly comparable pricing, similar to petrol pump displays, so people can more easily compare prices and make the best choice if they switch.
