Which? comments as Debenhams goes into liquidation

Adam French, Which? Consumer Rights Expert, said: 

“This is yet another devastating blow for the high-street, which is struggling now more than ever. The pandemic and lockdown measures have exacerbated the struggles bricks and mortar stores were already having trying to compete with online retailers.

“While Debenhams continues to trade online, we’d advise customers to use any gift vouchers as soon as possible and avoid buying vouchers for Christmas presents.

“If you are considering shopping with Debenhams this Christmas, make sure you use a credit card for anything worth over £100 – so you can try to get your money back should something go wrong.”
