Which? comments as latest energy price cap comes into effect
Adam French, Which? Consumer Rights Expert, said:
“Lowering the price cap may seem like good news for customers, but it remains more than £40 higher than the original price cap which came into force at the start of the year and millions of customers on default or standard variable tariffs could still be paying substantially more than they need to.
“With winter approaching, we are urging people to shop around for the best deals on the market and switch now – you could save hundreds of pounds a year and potentially receive better customer service.”
Notes to editor
- Price cap calculations based on a medium user (using 12,000kWh gas and 3,100kWh electricity per year) paying by direct debit.
- Customers looking for cheaper energy deals can compare deals with Which? Switch, a transparent and impartial way to compare energy tariffs and find the best gas and electricity supplier.
