Which? comments as UK – Japan trade talks begin

Sue Davies, Head of Consumer Protection and Food Policy at Which, said:

“There are benefits to be gained from future trade deals, including the potential for lower prices and more choice – in this case for cars and tech goods, for example. But trade deals must also reflect consumers wider expectations.

“We know that people want the UK’s high standards and protections to be maintained, so the government must ensure that these are not undermined by trade deals that could allow inferior products to enter the country or weaken consumers’ rights.”
