Which? raises refund concerns as weddings in England restart on 29 March

Gareth Shaw, Which? Head of Money, said:

“Until now, weddings in England have only been allowed to take place in exceptional circumstances.

“When lockdown laws ease, couples will still only be allowed a limited number of guests until 21 June, which is the earliest restrictions will lift completely. The CMA has advised that couples could be due a partial refund if their wedding goes ahead on a smaller scale.

“If couples choose to postpone or cancel their wedding so they can have more guests, their legal rights may be particularly unclear. Whether they choose to go ahead at a smaller scale or not, couples should speak directly with the venue and suppliers to discuss refunds or arrange an alternative date.”
