Which? responds to CMA investigation into green fashion claims
Sue Davies, Which? Head of Consumer Rights Policy, said:
“It is positive that the CMA is investigating potentially misleading environmental claims that ASOS, Boohoo and George at Asda have been making about their fashion products and that a wider investigation into the fashion sector will continue. Which? research shows that consumers want to make more sustainable choices but they risk being misled by some brands and manufacturers using eco-friendly claims to market products and services that fail to live up to their “green” credentials.
“Businesses must ensure they are complying with the law and put a stop to greenwashing so that people can trust the information they see and make informed decisions. Otherwise, the regulator must be prepared to take enforcement action to tackle this problem.”
