“The alarming rate of bank branch and ATM closures has left many people who depend on them for cash services at risk of being excluded, and banking hubs could provide a crucial piece of the puzzle to ensure local access to cash is maintained. A wide range of initiatives will likely be required to address the different challenges faced by local areas.
“These measures still need to be underpinned by legislation, and the government must move swiftly to make good on its promise to legislate and ensure that consumers will continue to be able to access cash for as long as it is needed.”
