Which? responds to O2 price rises

Which? executive director, Richard Lloyd, said

“O2 may not technically be breaking any rules but this is disappointing news not only for O2 customers, but also the 60,000 people who joined our Fixed Means Fixed campaign to end mid-contract price hikes.

“We’ll be keeping a close eye on other operators to make sure they follow the rules and give customers clear information about contracts at the point of sale. Unfortunately our mystery shopping research shows this doesn’t always happen when people buy mobile phones.”

Notes to Editors

Our Fixed Means Fixed campaign, which gained around 60,000 supporters called on Ofcom to allow customers to leave fixed contracts without penalty if their price was hiked. We also undertook mystery shopping in phone shops which showed assistants routinely gave customers incorrect information about the details of their fixed phone contract.
