Which? responds to ONS research showing that most UK households are being affected by cost of living rises

Rocio Concha, Which? Director of Policy and Advocacy, said:

“These findings echo Which? research, which shows that six in 10 households in our recent survey had to make an adjustment – such as cutting back on essentials or dipping into savings – to cover their spending in the last month.

“It’s especially concerning that 44 per cent of bill-paying adults are already finding it difficult to afford their energy bills in the summer, when we know bills are going to surge further in the difficult winter months ahead.

“More is needed from the government and energy companies to ensure targeted support reaches the ever-growing number of consumers struggling to make ends meet.”
