Which? responds to suspension of mobile bank branch services

Gareth Shaw, Head of Money at Which?, said:

“While it’s vital that all businesses listen to government advice, the suspension of mobile bank branch services will be worrying for people in affected communities, particularly for elderly and vulnerable customers in rural areas who rely on cash to pay for basic goods.

“Banks must urgently work with the government to identify suitable alternatives to ensure that no person or community is cut off – and explore all options so that essential banking services can continue during the coronavirus crisis.

“Where mobile branch services are being withdrawn, we would expect banks to take proactive steps to contact affected customers with advice on how they can avoid losing access to cash and vital banking services while this disruption continues.”
