Which? responds to the Chancellor’s announcement for a market study in to the digital advertising market

Caroline Normand, Which? Director of Policy said:

“There is real concern that the stranglehold a few tech giants have on the digital advertising market could be having a negative impact on consumers, including indirectly driving up the price of some goods and services – so we are pleased that the Chancellor has listened to our calls for an investigation.

“Consumers are worried about how their data is used, but feel powerless to act against the biggest players in the market, so we would also urge the Government to implement the Furman review’s proposals for increasing competition and giving individuals greater control over how their data is used – but without compromising security.”
