Which? responds to the news that Groupon has committed to improve its customer service and to offer refunds to certain customers

Adam French, Which? Consumer Rights Expert, said:

“We welcome the successful conclusion of the CMA’s investigation into Groupon and the news that certain customers who were not previously refunded will now get their money back.

“But the fact Groupon had to be hauled over the coals less than ten years after it was investigated by the previous regulator for many of the same issues, clearly shows our enforcement regime is not up to scratch.

“The government has proposed to give the CMA stronger powers, such as the ability to fine a company that is breaking the law. It must rapidly put these proposals into law to ensure businesses are held to account.”
