Which? responds to the Treasury committee’s report on consumers access to financial services
Gareth Shaw, Which? Head of Money, said:
“Our research has shown that thousands of bank branch and cashpoint closures are putting millions of people at risk of being stripped of banking services and their ability to pay for everyday essentials.
“The committee is right to say banks could be doing much more to prevent people from being financially excluded, while the government must back up its recent commitment to protect access to cash with urgent action to ensure people can continue to access their preferred payment method in the face of widespread bank branch and ATM closures and issues with patchy broadband services and IT glitches that affect digital banking services.”
