Which? response as FCA fines Barclays £26m over treatment of customers in financial difficulty
Jenny Ross, Which? Money Editor, said:
“It’s absolutely right that Barclays faces a hefty fine for the unacceptable treatment of vulnerable customers who were experiencing financial hardship, and it must serve as a warning to banks that all customers must be treated fairly.
“The importance of this announcement has been brought into even sharper focus as a result of the huge numbers of people who have taken up payment holidays in recent months.
“With many people’s personal finances severely impacted by the coronavirus crisis, the regulator must ensure that customers receive the help and support they need to get through this unprecedented situation – and must continue to take robust action if banks fall short.”
