Which? response as MPs amend Agriculture Bill after rejecting food standards proposal from House of Lords

Sue Davies, Head of Consumer Protection at Which?, said:

“While it’s good to see Parliamentary scrutiny of trade deals being improved, British consumers will, yet again, be disappointed that the government has rejected amendments to the Agriculture Bill that would ensure future food imports meet UK standards.

“Consumers have been clear they want food standards to be protected with iron-clad legislation. While the government has resisted doing so in this Bill, it must respect these views and keep steadfastly to its commitment that food standards will be upheld both for domestic and imported food.”
