Which? response as ‘thousands of weddings to be cancelled’ following Covid restriction confusion

Adam French, Which? Consumer Rights Expert, said:

“We have seen in previous lockdowns that people struggled to get their money back when weddings were cancelled and this uncertainty about the status of weddings in the coming months will be a huge source of stress for many couples.

“The CMA has already made clear that where lockdown laws prevent a wedding going ahead, couples should be offered a full refund. While a lot of venues are facing financial difficulty, they must ensure they follow the regulator’s guidance so that couples are not forced to shoulder the cost of their big day being cancelled.”
