Which? response as Treasury Select Committee calls for fraud via online advertising to be in the Online Safety Bill

Rocio Concha, Which? Director of Policy and Advocacy, said:

“Online scams have a devastating financial and emotional impact on victims – yet there are serious flaws in the current reactive approaches being taken by online platforms to protect their users.

“The government needs to urgently give online platforms a legal responsibility, through the Online Safety Bill, to prevent, identify and remove fake and fraudulent content on their sites – and this must include the avalanche of adverts and websites being used by fraudsters.”
