Alex Hayman, Which? Managing Director of Public Markets, said:
“Given Northern’s failure to deal with this mess the Government must now urgently get a grip on this crisis. There still doesn’t seem to be any end in sight to the chronic problems that are leaving passengers stranded on platforms, which is damaging many people’s personal lives as well as their professional careers.
“No wonder trust in the rail sector is so woefully low. Northern must now take immediate steps to compensate their passengers. Season ticket holders will rightly expect the company to pay out above and beyond what they would normally be entitled to, given the scale of the disruption.”
