Which? response to Iceland’s commitment to food labelling scheme

In reaction to the supermarket Iceland’s statement in which it fully supports the Government’s new food labelling scheme, Which? executive director, Richard Lloyd, said:

“Iceland’s commitment to join the rest of the major supermarkets and put traffic light labels on their food packaging is better late than never. With levels of obesity and diet-related disease on the increase it’s vitally important that people know what’s in their food so that they can make an informed choice. The Government now needs to press food manufacturers to join the scheme and make sure that labels are consistent and based on strong, independent criteria, so that consumers can easily compare products.”
