Which? response to NFU call for ministers to stick to UK food standards in trade talks
Caroline Normand, Which? Director of Advocacy, said:
“Food safety and standards should be enhanced, not undermined, through trade deals. It’s vital that the nation’s health is not used as a bargaining chip on the negotiating table.
“We know consumers value the UK’s high food standards, so the government must legislate to prevent imports produced to lower standards, such as chemical washing techniques for chicken and hormone-treated beef, from entering the UK.”
