Which? response to the FCA calling for paid-for scam adverts to be included in the Online Safety Bill
Rocio Concha, Which? Director of Policy and Advocacy, said:
“Scam victims not only suffer financial losses but also devastating emotional and psychological harm when they are targeted by fraudsters but online platforms are currently failing to adequately protect their users from criminals operating on their sites.
“The case for including paid-for scam adverts in the Online Safety Bill is overwhelming, with strong agreement among regulators, businesses, consumer groups, City of London Police, the Governor of the Bank of England and many MPs that urgent action is needed. It is vital that the government seizes the opportunity to act now.”
