Which? response to the Government report on the Common European Sales Law

Commenting on the Ministry of Justice report about the Common European Sales Law (CESL), Which? executive director Richard Lloyd said:

“The Commission has provided no convincing evidence to support its position that a new EU contract law will boost cross-border trade.  This proposal is a waste of time and money, and while it is being presented as a positive step by the Commission, it could lead to consumers having less protection and to more red tape for business.

“The UK Government must now send a clear message to Brussels and call for this proposal to be scrapped.”
