Which? response to Watchdog investigation into Whirlpool tumble dryers
Alex Neill, Which? Managing Director of Home Products and Services, said:
“Whirlpool told millions of people and the Government that it had a fix for the fire-risk tumble dryers in their homes – but evidence is mounting up to show that the so-called fix is not fit for purpose.
“Our research has shown the company is giving worried customers bad safety advice and that its “fix” may not remove the risk of fire at all – wrongly leading people to believe they and their families are safe.
“Time and again Whirlpool has demonstrated it is not capable of taking the steps needed to put its customers’ safety first. The Government must now step in and order a full recall of affected tumble dryers to ensure this issue is resolved.”
